How we repair siding
We replace what’s failed and only what’s failed. Individual boards come out without disturbing sound neighbors; new stock is matched to the existing profile — bevel, channel, board-and-batten, grooved plywood on the mid-century homes — and to the reveal, so the coursing lines stay true. Cut ends and back faces get primed before they go on the wall, which is where longevity actually comes from.
Behind the board matters as much as the board. We check the paper or wrap at the opening, repair flashing where it’s failed, and make sure the new section sheds water onto — never behind — the course below. On stucco homes, we seal the cracks that are water paths (window corners, parapet lines) and leave the cosmetic crazing honestly alone.
Then the finish: spot-prime and touch-up to blend with the existing paint, feathered so there’s no flag saying “repair here.” Where the failure had a cause — a gutter overflowing at a corner, sprinklers hitting the wall, soil piled against the bottom course — the visit fixes that too.
