Home maintenance by subscription — done the right way.
If you're looking for a home maintenance subscription — a flat plan that keeps your house cared for without chasing contractors — this is ours, with one honest correction to the label: Hello Handy is a membership. Same idea you're searching for. Predictable cost, a standing relationship, upkeep that happens on a schedule instead of a crisis. One foreman-led team for homeowners across San Francisco and the Peninsula, one master to-do list, one published rate.
The wording matters, and not just to lawyers. In California, "pay a fee, and we'll repair whatever breaks" is a home-protection contract — a product regulated as insurance, with everything that implies: claims lines, coverage schedules, disputes about what counts. We built the opposite of that, so we don't borrow its name.
Subscription, membership, or home warranty?
A home warranty
A flat fee to repair whatever breaks — regulated as insurance in California. You call a claims line, wait for an assigned contractor, and argue about coverage when the answer is no. Nothing happens until something fails.
A Hello Handy membership
A crew that knows your home, on a schedule. Handled includes 3 crew hours a month for real work — maintenance done before things break — and anything beyond is billed at the published member rate. No claims process, no coverage schedule, no fine print about what counts.
The practical difference: a warranty pays out when your house loses. A membership spends its hours making sure it doesn't — gutters cleared before the rains, the deck inspected before the fog season, the soft spot in the trim caught while it's a one-board repair.
The two plans
$399 /yr
Access. A documented walk-through, your list managed, and the crew at $125/hr in half-day (3.5h) or full-day (7h) visits, whenever you need them.
$499 /mo
We run the home. Seasonal care plan, 3 crew hours a month banked up to 9, and extra work at the published $125/hr rate.
How the Handled care program works
Every quarter, a half-day Home Health visit: filters, smoke and CO tests, under-sink and supply-line leak checks, caulk in the wet rooms, doors and windows adjusted, garage door serviced, water heater checked — plus punch-list items from your own list while we're there. On top of that rides the seasonal layer: gutters and weatherproofing before the fall rains, leak checks in winter, the exterior wood and deck inspection in spring, dryer vents and screens in summer.
The visits draw from your included hours; what you don't use banks up to 9 hours with no expiry date. Once a year you get a State of Your Home report — photos, findings, and a prioritized twelve-month plan, delivered in the app.
Fair questions
Is this a home warranty?
No. A home warranty charges a flat fee to repair whatever breaks, and that model is regulated as insurance in California. Hello Handy is a membership: included crew hours on Handled, real work at the published $125/hr member rate, and no claims process anywhere in the building.
What does it cost?
Annual Membership is $399/yr; Handled is $499/mo with 3 crew hours a month included. Labor is one published rate — $125/hr, covering a crew of up to 2 — with no per-job quotes. Full pricing details →
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel within 30 days of joining for a full refund, less any labor credit used; after 30 days, annual fees aren't prorated and your benefits run through the end of the paid term. Handled is month to month — if you cancel, you have 30 days to use remaining banked hours. Your home record is yours to keep either way. More straight answers →
