Deck Repair in San Francisco and the Peninsula

Most decks don't need rebuilding — they need the right hundred pounds of repair: the boards that cup and split, the railing that moves when you lean on it, the stair treads gone soft, the one post that's done.

How we repair decks

Deck problems are local until they’re ignored. We replace failing boards individually — matched species and thickness, fastened properly, spaced to drain — rather than declaring the whole surface dead. Railings get re-blocked and through-bolted so they’re rigid again; wobble is a hardware-and-blocking problem long before it’s a replacement problem. Stair treads and stringers get the closest attention, because that’s where weather, load, and rot meet.

Posts and structural connections are where repair scale earns its keep. A post rotted at grade can be cut back, sistered, or replaced on a proper standoff base without touching the rest of the frame. Ledger connections, joist ends, and hardware get checked while we’re under there — a corroded hanger costs a few dollars now and a great deal later.

Sealing is the difference between doing this once and doing it annually. After repairs, we clean and seal on a schedule that fits the exposure — fog-side decks and full-sun decks age on completely different clocks.

The honest boundary

Repair scale means boards, railings, treads, and posts — a deck that’s structurally tired end-to-end is a rebuild, and we’ll say so plainly at the walk-through, with a clear read on what buys time and what doesn’t.

Scope, plainly

What this doesn't cover

The limits above are the honest line. Major remodels, permit-requiring work, and full rebuilds are project territory — we'll tell you plainly at the walk-through, and when a job needs a licensed specialty trade we coordinate vetted subs on one invoice.

What it costs

One published member rate — $125/hr — booked in half- or full-day visits. No per-job quotes, no padding. Handled members draw on included monthly hours first. See membership pricing →
